As the days of summer wane, consider jump starting your 2017 fall biotech conference calendar. Here are some interesting events that range from next gen sequencing technology meetings to entrepreneurial “under the radar” start-up events.
Sept 25-28
Biotech Week Boston Festival at the Hynes Convention Center. This is comprised of the BioProcess International, Viral Safety, and Cell and Gene Therapy conferences and exhibitions. Some event highlights, include the Xconomy Awards, Diversity Dinner, Technology Workshops and Battle of Biotech Bands. Industry speakers are J. Craig Venter, Ph.D., Flemming Ornskov, M.D., M.P.H., Dean Pettit, Ph. D and James Collins, Ph. D.
Oct 2
LRIG New England Exhibition 2017 at the Boston Marriott in Cambridge MA from 2-8pm. This annual event is a terrific way to network with local instrumentation companies and people. There are technical talks from life science tool vendors and an exhibition hall.
Oct 3&4
The Festival of Genomics at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in the Seaport. This is a community focused event uniting people who are generating, using, or studying genomic information. There will be 20 minute keynotes from those doing the most essential work in the field as well as panels. Sessions have been curated around 4 themes; Personalizing Medicine, Enabling Data, Precision Therapeutics and Research & Development.
Oct 23-24
Next Generation Sequencing and Clinical Diagnostics Congress and co-located with Single Cell Analysis USA Congress at the Hyatt Regency Boston. Hear from key innovators in next generation sequencing, clinical diagnostics development and single cell analysis. Topics range from novel methods to NGS data analysis, Big Data and cloud computing in NGS as well as updates in interpreting NGS data. Presentations with include case studies on clinical diagnostics development, biomarkers for precision therapies and innovative biology. Find out about the latest advancement in single cell ‘omics analysis. Speakers include Jane Wilkinson of The Broad Institute, George Church of Wyss Institute and Chelsea Xue from Novartis.

MATTO New Ventures Showcase from 1pm- 6:30pm at The University of Massachusetts Club One Beacon Street, 32nd Floor in Boston MA. The Massachusetts Association of Technology Transfer Offices (MATTO) is showcasing start-ups emerging from Massachusetts research institutions, hospitals and universities. A select number of new ventures will pitch to an audience of angel investors, venture capitalists, corporate investors, and family offices. They have a life science track similar to the new venture event they host every April. If you want to apply to present your Newco, those are due Oct 13th.
